HIMSS 2019 ended as quickly as it had begun. Leaving attendees with a feeling of excitement, the MetaOptima Team spent the final day introducing industry experts to the latest features to DermEngine’s intelligent dermatology tools for best practice.
Although it was the final day of the conference, HIMSS was busier than ever; medical professionals, tech gurus, and industry influencers flocked to MetaOptima’s booth to get a better look at the new images displayed on our giant LED screen. Here, they were delighted to learn that DermEngine is set to release multiple AI-based tools over the coming weeks and months set to revolutionize the daily workflow of dermatologists and other healthcare providers.
1. Smart Snap
Coming soon to DermEngine, Smart Snap's recommendation feature specializes in shortening typical imaging workflows by as much as 80%. Rather than wasting switching screens to capture additional images, Serial Imaging lets you capture several versions in one session for a streamlined experience. After you capture your first image, the tool will compare it to the patient’s existing images to recommend which spot it should be assigned to. Rather than wasting time trying to find the right spot, Smart Recommendation helps you locate it in a matter of seconds!
2. DermDrone
Still in development, HIMSS attendees received a sneak peak at MetaOptima’s new drone project. Rather than paying over $200,000 for a total body photography imaging booth, DermDrone is programmed to carry out imaging with a portable, affordable, and accessible solution! Reducing the need for human presence while maximizing patient comfort, this smart little drone is programmed to capture high resolution images in a matter of minutes while eliminating the need for large rooms and bulky machinery, but that’s all we’re going to say for now!
Pillars Of DermEngine’s AI Solutions
In addition to these new and upcoming features, DermEngine showcased its more well-established tools in artificial intelligence (AI):
Visual Search: When you submit a dermoscopic image, Visual Search provides you with similar images from a database of thousands of pathology-labeled images to help support the medical professional’s clinical decisions with evidence-based data.
Mole Mapping: Automatically identifies spots within a total body image and maps them to the patient’s personal 3D Body Map to eliminate lengthy documentation processes.
Mole Matching: Locates changes to the skin over time by comparing follow up images, and then prioritizes them based on amount of change (such as size or color) to support the early detection of skin cancer.
Evolution Tracker: Overlays images of a particular spot in a slide show to help the medical professional better identify any changes to the skin over the course of previous visits.
Final Thoughts & Thank You's
As another successful HIMSS draws to a close, the MetaOptima Team would like to thank all of you for your support over the past weeks as we’ve worked to showcase all of our latest achievements over the past year. Highlighting both the advancements and importance of developments in health IT, HIMSS is the first chapter in equipping medical professionals and their patients with the tools for optimized care to lead healthier, happier lives.
